Candles

Candles were an essential part of everyday life in 1870 when Hancock's original business began operations.  These days we think of candles as adding a romantic touch to our lives and here are some options.   All are individually handmade.

For maximum enjoyment of all candles they need to be supervised:

Pillar candles are made with certified, sustainably grown and resourced Palm wax.  They need to remain alight until the 'melt pool' has nearly reached the edge before being extinguished:  
Overburning can distort the edges and the melted wax will pour out.
In warm weather (or in a warm situation) you can expect your candle to burn faster.
Underburning will creat a hollow tube down the middle of the candle and starve the wick of oxygen.
Keep wicks short to prevent candle burning 'lop-sided' and damaging the candle wall causing it to flood.
PLEASE NOTE:  Hancocks uses Palm Wax sourced from RSPO certified suppliers to ensure our support for the environment.

Container candles need to keep burning until the 'melt pool' has reached the edge of the container - otherwise the unmelted wax at the edges will not be utilised and shorten the candle life.  These are made using Coconut and Soy wax.
