'As Natural As Can Be' All the products are handmade at our olive grove near Amberley, North Canterbury. The principal ingredient in all varieties is Mt Grey Extra Virgin Olive Oil. By purchasing an existing olive grove and establishing Mt Grey Olives we know we are sourcing top quality local olive oil. Olive oil has been the ultimate 'liquid gold' for thousands of years, rightfully so considering its amazing therapeutic actions plus being such a vital ingredient to cuisine world-wide.
Olive oil is the major constituent of all soap and bodycare products at Hancocks. From 90 percent of total oil content in the Castile or Marseille-style soaps to over 50 percent in the rest of the soap/bodycare range. We also farm (and distill) two lavender cultivars (L. angustifolia 'Pacific Blue' and L. intermedia 'Grosso'). The oils are used in many of the products - either stand alone or with other precious essential oils to create a range of scents for broad appeal: floral, citrus, wood or spice. Calendulas are grown here and infused into olive oil for extra skin care as well as Aloe Vera. Native botanicals are used to make extracts which are incorporated into some products - they have also some amazing properties for all to enjoy.
